Glenrio Motel & Cafe - Vertical
Glenrio, a town that straddles the Texas/New Mexico state line, is another victim of progress. Once a pleasant stop along Route 66, the town was bypassed by Interstate 40 in the mid-seventies and today is mostly a ghost town. Relics and ruins are scattered around the area, including the property shown in this photo. The most interesting remaining building is the Brownlee Diner originally built in the Art Moderne style. Sadly, that diner building is now fenced and visitors seem not to be welcome.
